Smith, Gordon Hamilton--Age 80 of Nashville, died January 17, 2006. He was preceded in death by parents, Albert Forrest Smith, Sr. And Daisy Myers Smith. Survived by children, Deborah Willis (Don), David H. Smith (Anna)) and Carol Payne; grandchildren, Adam Tyler Smith, Logan Taylor Smith, Joseph Parks, Natasha Parks and Tylor Norris; brother, Bob Dudley Smith (Jeanne); sisters, Mrs. Horton (Joan) Jones, Jr. And Kay Adamson (Jimmy); 20 nieces and nephews. He was previously married to Marianne Griggs. Gordon graduated from West End High School in 1944 and served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII. He graduated from Andrew Jackson Business School in Nashville. He retired from the USDA Veterinary Services after many years. Activities included Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, "Mole Hole Gang" at Melton's Pharmacy and West End High School Alumni Lunch Bunch. Sports played a big part of Gordon's life. He was an outstanding football and basketball player at West End High School. He was honored with the All-City Nashville Award in football in 1943. Music was Gordon's passion. He was a longtime member of the Hank Corchran Orchestra as a drummer and vocalist. He was very involved at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and member of the choir. Visitation will be Friday, January 20th at 11 a.m., at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church, with a Memorial service following at 1 p.m. A private family burial will be held at the church.
