Gurney J. Klinger, 69, of 1505 Walnut St., Ashland, died Saturday, Sept. 16, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Barry Township, July 28, 1937, he was a son of the late Russell and Lillian (Carl) Klinger.
He attended Barry Township schools and was employed as a coal miner at area mines until his retirement.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maryann (Hornberger) Klinger, in March 2005; three brothers, Mark, Russell and Roger; two sisters, Shirley Madenford and Edna Moyer.
Surviving are a son, James Klinger, Jonestown; two daughters, Jane Herb, Ashland, and Barbara Klinger, Atlas; four brothers, Harry Klinger, Hegins, Leroy Klinger and Donald Klinger, both of Ashland, and Harley Klinger, Durea; three sisters, Ada Fishburn, Ashland, Fern Clark, Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Linda Kegler, Forthys, Mont.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, from Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, officiated by the Rev. Byron Dever, pastor of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Ashland. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. There will be no evening viewing. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
