Doris A. Overly Cole, 75, of Hunker RD1, passed away early Monday morning, June 26, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. Doris was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Foxtown, Hempfield Township, a daughter of the late William C. and Minnie Goswick Overly. She married William J. Cole on Dec. 18, 1948. Doris was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister to her family and was noted for braiding beautiful handmade rugs. She was a member of the Armbrust Wesleyan Church and the Ladies Joy Fellowship Class. She also assisted during the annual church bible school. Years ago, she was employed at the former Robertshaw Controls Division in Youngwood and the former Imperial Lighting Co. in Greensburg. Doris is survived by her loving family: her husband of 51 years, William J. Cole; three children, James William Cole and wife, Becky Jo, of Hunker RD1, Beverly Bea Holsopple and husband, Gary, of Cambridge, Vt., and William Allen Cole and wife, Carol, of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Michael Cole, Jeffrey Holsopple, David Cole, Ross Holsopple, Brian Cole and Jason Cole; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Welling, Kristyn Holsopple and Sean Cole; two sisters, Helen Shuster and husband, Ray, and Elva Blackburn and husband, Kenneth, all of Alverton; a brother, Donald Overly and wife, Carol, of Grapevine, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda and Lillian Achtziger; and two brothers, William and Charles Overly. Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-5300 (e-mail: rferga1usa.net), Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Glenn Rader officiating. Graveside committal services and interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Foundation, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Suite 700, Pittsburgh, PA 15235, in memory of Doris A. Cole.
