"The son of Aluis and Lena (Cysello) Ampe, Celeste Ampe received his school education in the land of his birth, and from the time he was fourteen until his twenty-fourth birthday he worked at home for his father.

"Coming to America in 1899, Celeste located at Brainerd, Minnesota, where he was employed in the Great Northern railroad shops. Coming to Lyon County in 1901, he was the proprietor of a blacksmith & wagon repair shop. He conducted a well paying business; owning his shop and owning also two nice residence properties in the village. Mr. Ampe was a member of the Town Board of Ghent and served on the Village Council for two terms.

On 6 February 1906, Celeste first married Cornelia Moorse in Ghent, MN; he was age 30, she was 24.

After his first wife, Cornelia, died 17 November 1924, Celeste second married Annie ____ in 1925; he was age 50, she was 44. They had no children together.

After moving to Paynesville (Township) in Stearns County (abt 1915), Celeste was a successful farmer. He died at age 88.
