FERRICK
Andrew Ferrick, the son of John and Anna Ferrick, was born Sept. 12, 1914, in Albia, Iowa. He passed away on April 10, 1994, at the Ottumwa Regional Hospital at the age of 79.
As a young man, Andrew lived in the Chariton and Williamson area, attending country school with his brothers and sisters. In June of 1942, Andrew joined the U.S. Army, serving as Private First Class during World War II. He received an honorable discharge from the service in November of 1945.
Andrew was united in marriage to Mae Probasco and they had two children, John Andrew and Sandra.
Andrew worked at various jobs and in his later years had settled in Griswold. He was a member of the American Legion while in Griswold. He had moved to Ottumwa only a week before his sudden death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, George, and his sister, Gladys Grazulis.
Andrew is survived by his son, John Andrew Ferrick of Chariton; daughter, Sandra Curfman of Des Moines; one brother, Harry Ferrick of Winterset; four sisters, Mary Gwinn of Humeston, Dorothy Harbert of Plainfield, Ill., Agnes Gwinn of Lucas, and Ann Murphy of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 1994 at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Olson officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery. Bearers were Garry Gwinn, Tom Harbert, Dick Ferrick, Robert Gwinn, Jack Young and Leland Shelton.
