Funeral Services For Mrs. Anna Mathiason

STORY CITY--Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Mathiason were held Monday, June 25 at 1:30 form the Larson-Peterson funeral home in Story City and at 2:00 at Grace E. U. B. church with the pastor, W. D. Winter in charge. Marlys Johnson sang three selections and Mrs. Dorrell Doolittle served at the organ. Burial was in Center cemetery.

Annie Johnson Mathiason, daughter of Nels and Ane Johnson was born in Vial, Denmark, March 11, 1866 and passed away at the home of her daughter,Mrs. Stanley Lykins, of Story City, June 21, 1951, at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 10 days.

A year ago she was operated on at the Mary Greeley hospital and has been bed fast since that time.

On January 4, 1884, she was united in marriage to Marius Mathiason. To this union twelve children were born, Sam, of Bemidji, Minn., Mae Doolittle, Nels, Andrew, Amanda Hendrickson, Alvin, Albert, Victor, Myrtle McCreight, Florence Klann and Rose Lykins, all of Story City, Iowa; and Blanche Oppedal of Stanhope.

She was baptized in the Lutheran faith, as a child in Denmark, she came to this country in 1868 with her parents and brother John and settled in the Story City community where she lived the remaining years of her life. Her husband passed away on November 24, 1933, at their home southeast of Story City.

She is survived by her twelve children, thirty-four grandchildren, four brothers, John and Martin of Story city, Julius of Omaha, Nebraska and Charles of Texas and a host of relatives and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were former neighbors, Theroy Wierson, John Wierson, Leonard Hermanson, Robert Hermanson, Jesse C. Johnson and Clarence Doolittle.
