John C. Kastner, 93, 310 West Grant Street, Bremen, died at 9 a.m., Sunday, Novemeber 16, at Community Hospital of Bremen following a two month illness. He was born April 6, 1893 in Bremen to Karl and Emma (Felton) Kastner. He was a town resident all of his life. On June 12, 1921, he married Rosine Buescher in Steeleville, Illinois. He retired from W.E. Walters Company as a meat cutter after 45 years of employment. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWI, a member of the Lutheran Layman's League and a life member of the American Legion Post 191 in Bremen. Surviving with his wife are two daughters: Mrs. Harold (Lelia) Matzat, North Judson and Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Johnson, West Lafayette; one son, Edward Kastner, Coral Springs, Florida and 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother and sister. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Roger E. Rohde officiating. Burial was at Bremen Cemetery.
