(FIVE POINTS) Services for the Rev. Herbert "Bud" Howard, 78, of Five Points were at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at LaFayette Heights Baptist Church with the Revs. Vernon Brown and Bob Karcher officiating. Burial followed at LaFayette City Cemetery. The Rev. Howard died Monday, Nov. 19, in Birmingham.
Born Jan. 24, 1923, in Ridge Grove, the Rev. Howard was a Baptist minister having served at LaFayette Heights Baptist Church for 17 years and Five Points Baptist Church for 28 years. He was a member of Five Points Baptist. He was a sergeant in the 752nd Field Artillery Battalion serving in northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland in Central Europe in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn McKinney Howard of Five Points; a daughter, Grace Andres of Plantersville; a son, the Rev. Paul Howard of LaFayette; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Wilson of Alpharetta, Ga.; two stepsons, Cy Wood and George Wood of West Point, Ga.; a sister, Patty Estes of LaFayette; three brothers, Franklin Howard, Felton Howard and James M. Howard Jr., all of LaFayette; and 10 grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Jeff Jones Funeral Home, LaFayette.
