Little is known of Yakley Mayfield except he was a painter by occupation and married Willie Bell Clay. They had a daughter, Myree Mayfield who was my grandmother. We do know from one of his brothers, Jesse Mayfield, that Yakley was found dead on a train in the Clovis depot station. Yakley had lost his first wife, Willie Belle, two years prior and had marrid Lima Octavia Word. They had a son together, Yakley Mayfield Jr.
