Ann (Buddy) Yates died at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, in Collingsworth General Hospital, after an extended illness. Mrs. Yates, 71, had lived in Wellington more than 60 years. She was born at Lamar, Oklahoma April 7, 1913, the daughter of James Wilson and Elizabeth Burton Wilson. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1929 and was married to Russell Yates Dec. 17, 1929 in Mangum. Mrs. Yates was a retired secretary, and for many years was a receptionist in the dental office of Dr. J.M. Orr. She formerly was employed in the office of St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a member of Excelsior Club, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, The Auxiliaries of both St. Joseph's and Collingsworth General Hospitals, and the Lillie Extension Homemaker Gub. She was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, and of the women's organizations during the years they were active. Survivors are a sister, Evelyn Cerullo of Oak Harbor, Washington; a sister-in-law, Marguerite Sass of Clovis, N.M.; a niece, Catherine Bryant of Orcas, Washington; and a nephew, Joseph Cerullo of Oak Harbor.
