Hazel Marie Hite was born in Ohio. Her father was an alcoholic and not a nice man to be around. Anna known as Laura left Henry and took her youngest daughter with her.

Laura left her older children with their father who was abusive and an alcoholic.

Hazel's brother Norman and her sister Ruth were placed in the Warren County Orphanage Home in West Turtle Creek, Ohio in 1920. Hazel is living with the Zubo Family in Seneca, Ohio. The Census shows she was their on trial.

She was not found on the 1930 Census. However between 1930 and 1940 she left her life in Ohio and moved to California with her sister Ruth. In California, Hazel was a madam.

In 1946, she placed a want ad in the Sacramento Newspaper asking people to take her children. She used the Name Hazel Baltimore. It was legal to place children for adoption in the newspaper during this time period in California.


The Oldest daughter child was born in Sacramento, California, the 2nd oldest was born in Ohio, her son was born in Sacramento, California and her youngest daughter was born i Sacramento, California. Her son and youngest daughter are biological siblings. This has been proven through an Autosomal DNA test.

The oldest daughter was raised in Sacramento, the 2nd oldest daughter was raised back East. Her son was adopted and raised in Roseville, California and her youngest daughter was adopted and raised in Sacramento, California. Her children have now found each other. The middle daughter died in 1996; the rest are still living.

Hazel later married Melvin Mortiz Johnson in Sacramento, California and they have two sons.

Hazel's ashes were taken to Bodega Bay, California.
