"Great grandmother Keziah Balfour Walker, mother of Elvira Walker McCrady, lived in Attica also. A widow who according to the custom of the area lived with her children, after she had sold her farm in Linn Co. Kansas. It is to her that these who came later owe so much. She was an independent thinker and would rather have had her own home but she never complained. She thought it was God's will. She admonished all her children and grandchildren to be mindful of God's teachings. She lived the Christian life that she believed in and everyone who knew her, loved her. She came to O.T. [Oklahoma Territory] with her son, Andrew Nixon who homesteaded in old Woods Co. After much living among her eight children, she passed on in 1904."
