J. C. PARKS DEAD

Died at St Vincent's Hospital
in Sioux City on Sunday Night.

J. C. Parks, a worthy young farmer, of Ashton township, died on Monday morning May 13, 1907 in the St. Vincent hospital in Sioux City, after an illness of seven weeks. He was taken severely sick seven weeks ago with pneumonia and two weeks ago was taken to Sioux City where he was operated on but the efforts of his physician were unable to stay the disease, and he gradually grew weaker until the end.

He was born in Douglass county, Illinois, December 25, 1874 [1872], and came with his parents , Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Parks to this county twenty seven years ago. About six years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Myra Jones, of Onawa, who now with two children, together with his father and mother, eight brothers and one sister, survive him.

He was a young man of good character and devoted to his family and was highly respected in the community in which he had spent almost his whole life. The funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Onawa Congregational church conducted by Rev. Zickefoose.

Untimely Death

Clark Parks, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm A. Parks, of Ashton township, died in Sioux City at the St Vincent hospital Saturday night, May 11. He had undergone an operation for the removal of an abscess of the lung and was thought to be getting along nicely until a few days before death relieved all suffering. His father and mother and wife were at his bedside when the end came. The remains were brought home Sunday noon and the funeral held from the Congregational church Tuesday afternoon, services conducted by the pastor, Rev. F. A. Zickefoose. Interment was in the Onawa cemetery.

Deceased was born in Tuscola, Illinois, December 25, 1873 [1872], and came to this county with his parents when about four years old. He had always been an industrious young man and was happy and prosperous with his wife and two children on his own farm in Ashton township, until sickness followed by death broke the family ties and left a heart broken wife and sorrowing children. A father and mother and a number of brothers also mourn the loss of a beloved son and brother. Two brothers, Clement S. and Thomas M., of Cripple creek, Colorado, and Albert, of Buroak, Kansas were present at the funeral.
