Nora Baca, 73, lifelong area resident living in Deming passed away Sunday June 8, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces.
Visitation will be this Wednesday afternoon from 2 until 5 at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Deming and the rosary service will be this evening at 7 o'clock at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, June 12, 2008 at 10 o'clock at Holy Family and the concluding rites and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Fr. Andy Riley, Pastor, will officiate.
Nora was born October 15, 1934 in Dwyer on the Mimbres Valley to Elena Dominguez and Eduardo Baca. She married Gabriel Salaiz at an early age and were the parents of 8 children. In the early 70's, they moved to Deming where she has made her home since and raised her family. She had a great host of friends she and aunt Mary Dominguez, her social companion, developed amongst the senior community in Deming. Nora enjoyed music and dancing.
Survivors include 3 sons, Ruben Salaiz and companion Rosita of Deming, Gabriel and wife Isabel, Crosby, TX and Eloy and wife Versa, Deer Park, TX; 4 daughters, Reina Salaiz, Lydia Salaiz and Viola Salaiz, Deming and Emma and husband Alex Galvan, Las Cruces; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and companion Ken Hill; 5 brothers, Adan, Julian, Buddy and Sam Baca of Deming and Ramon D. Baca of Faywood.
Preceding her in death are her parents Eduardo and Elena Baca and a son, Johnny, who died April 30, 1995.
Serving as pallbearers will be Henry Baca, Leandro Dominguez Jr., Kenny Chavez, Eloy Salaiz, Ruben Salaiz and Michael Salaiz.
