Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 10 , 2012 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton for Genevieve Menard, age 88, who passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at 7:07 a.m. at her residence in Cankton.
Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus. The songs will be Hail Mary Gentle Woman, Amazing Grace, One Bread One Body, Notre Pere, and Ave Maria.
Survivors include one son, Wilton Menard and his wife, Elaine, of Carencro; one daughter, Shirley Credeur and her husband, Gerald, of Cankton; four brothers, Leray Menard of Carencro, Nathan Menard of Iota, Clayton Menard of Sunset, and Arthur James Menard of Cankton; one grandchild. Arlette Theriot and her husband, Elliot; and one great grandchild, Cameron Theriot.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ursie Menard and the former Dora Vanable; her husband Leon Meanrd; one brother, Leroy Menard; and three sisters, Virgie Martin, Verlace Menard, and Rosanell Menard.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Avenue, Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
