Son of Henry L and Harriet Edwards Baldwin, he married Lulu Slater of East River while attending the Teachers Training Class in DeRuyter. He taught in the district schools for a number of years before opening a store on South Cortland for a time. Moving to Cuyler, he there operated a farm for 20 years, then moving to Bouckville. Around 1945 he settled in Lincklaen. He served as Justice of the Peace in Cortland, Cuyler, and Lincklaen. He was survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Neff of Cuyler, and Mrs. Thelma Evans of Burlington, Vermont. Also three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
