Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Solon Funeral Home. The Elks ritual will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. and the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
He was born March 15, 1901 in Offena, Italy, a son of Dominic and Lucia Salvati. He married Agnes McGuire on November 17, 1928 at Immaculate Conception Church. She survives.
Also surviving are one son: Alfred Salvati of Streator; a daughter: Mary Ann (Ronald) Plesko of Streator; seven grandchildren; four brothers: Chester, Anthony and Leo Salvati, all of Streator, and Ernest Salvati of Ottawa; and two sisters: Gilda Salvati of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Anna (Otto) Dettore of Ottawa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Sue Madden.
He resided in Streator most of his life, moving here from Italy. President and business agent of Bricklayers Union for more than 40 years, he formerly served as president of Streator Building Trades. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Moose Lodge and a life member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #591.
