Mother and Baby die same day of tuberculosis.
Little four month old baby boy, Herbert Martin Smith, Jr. died from pulmonary tuberculosis. His mother, Pearl, passed away on the same day of the same illness. Pearl is the daughter of George Ellis Lewis and Annie Elizabeth Greer Lewis of Barren County. The baby's father, Herbert Sr, is the son of Harrison Novel Smith and Arabelle Martin Smith, also of Barren County, Kentucky.

OBITUARY:
Mrs Herbert Smith [Lula Pearl Lewis], age 24, one of the most beloved young ladies of the Beckton section, died Monday night at her home there. A child [Herbert Martin Smith, Jr] preceded his mother in death only a few hours on the same day. Mrs Smith is survived by her husband, one son, and a number of brothers and sisters. Her untimely death caused much sorrow and grief over the county.
