Gail Edward Griffith, 53, 603 McKenzie St, died in Ball Hospital Thursday evening after being stricken ill while at work. A native of Blackford County, he was a Muncie resident since 1934. He was a veteran of World War II and was employed for 23 years with a family business, the Standard Motor Service, 400 E. Jackson.
He was most recently employed as an auto mechanic by Merle Lindsey Chevrolet.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lou; two daughters, Penny Gay Griffith, at home, and Mrs. Tom (Joyce Ann) McElfresh, Muncie; one son, Joseph, at home; three grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Griffith, Wichita, Kan.; four sisters, Mrs. Doris McPherson, Montpelier, Mrs. Delight Wikel, Hartford City, Mrs. Jean Hoskins, Albany, and Mrs. Blanche Horner, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Parson Mortuary with Dr. Lewis W. Gishler officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday or prior to services Monday.
