Obituary from Post Register (Idaho Falls, ID) - October 6, 2012:
James Egbert "Jim" Hatch, 78, was called back home to our Father in Heaven on Thursday, October 4, 2012, after a short hospital stay.

He was born May 28, 1934, to Lawrence Perry Hatch and Isabella Egbert in Hagerman, Idaho. Shortly after his birth, they moved back to Teton Valley, where Jim was raised.

Jim farmed in Teton Valley, Idaho, most of his life. He was most helpful to his father, Lawrence Perry Hatch, even as a young child, and grew up to love farming.
Jim served several proud years in the United States Army and Army National Guard as an airborne paratrooper and was promoted to second lieutenant before turning back to farm with his aging father once again.
In later years, Jim worked as a well-loved rural postman in order to pay for his farming.

Jim was a loving and generous husband, father and friend.

Jim married LaRee Kaufman at age 39, assuming the role of father to five children, Sheila Rae, Ralph Claude, Valerie Kay, Samera Lea and Trina Lyn, whom Jim later adopted. Together they had two more children, James Gregory and Merri Ann. His family was sealed in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple on December 5, 1988. Jim and LaRee raised all their children to see them married and have two short years alone together before LaRee passed away in 1996.

Jim was an avid fisherman and ice fisherman, historian, and doting father and grandfather. He was blessed with a great intellect and served the LDS church in many callings, his favorite being the high priest group instructor for many years.

He is survived by his children: Sheila Rae DuQuoin, of Etna, WY, Valerie Kay Butler, of Caldwell, Samera Lea Green, of Idaho Falls, James G. (Jimmy) Hatch, of Driggs, and Merri Ann Drake, of Blackfoot; his siblings: "Jack" Hatch and Lindsay Hatch, of Tetonia, Lincoln Hatch, of Fruit Heights, UT, and Jeanette Miyasaki, of Idaho Falls; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence Perry and Isabella Lindsay Hatch; his wife, LaRee; his sister, LuAnn (Chapman); his children: Ralph and Trina; and his grandsons: Jacob Nathaniel Beard and Colby Ralph "Ernie" Beard.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 8, at the Driggs LDS Stake Center. Interment will be in Cache-Clawson Cemetery.
