Funeral service for Mr. Leo Carter, 71, of Dadeville, will be Friday, October 5, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Eagle Creek Baptist Church. Rev. David Johnson and Rev. Ken Griffith will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 4, 2012 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Russell Medical Center. He was born on November 22, 1940 in Tallapoosa County, AL to James Edward Carter and Vertie Larue McDaniel Carter. He was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Leo was a fun person to be around. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a great husband and dad and he adored his grandsons very much.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Lightsey Carter of Dadeville; son, Terry Lynn Carter (Sherri) of Dadeville; grandsons, Wesley Ryan Carter and Jacob Ryan Carter; brothers, Gerald Edward Carter (Jackie) of Sylacauga and Johnny O. Carter of New Site; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Margaret White.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
