Leon Robert Barger, 77, of Urbana died at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2012) at home.
He was born Sept. 9, 1935 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Edgar Gilbert and Hattie Bosch Barger. He married Patsy Lou Lane on Jan. 31, 1959 in Champaign. She died on Jan. 6, 1979. He was also preceded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include one son, David W. (Johna) Barger; one daughter, Christi S. (Don) Barger-Mayer; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren and six step-great- grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Barger attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Urbana. He was a lifetime member VFW Post 630, Urbana; lifetime member of American Legion Post 71, Urbana; Past President of the Lions Club and a 50 plus year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 149 in Champaign.
