Joseph Lawrence "Larry" Ortz, 83

AUSTINTOWN – There will be a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Monday for Joseph Lawrence "Larry" Ortz, 83, who passed away Thursday afternoon, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center's Emergency Room.

Larry was born May 16, 1925 in Youngstown, the son of the late George A. and Mary (Hoffman) Buckley. His adoptive father, Richard Ortz has passed away.

He graduated in 1943 from Chaney High School, and retired in 1992 after 45 years of service to the Hearn Paper Co., serving as vice president.

He was a member of Austintown Kiwanis, Fitch Productions Minstrel Show, the Austintown FOPA, the Youngstown Saxon Club, Argus Lodge No. 545 F&AM, York and Scottish Rite, and the Aut Mori Grotto. Larry was a former member of the Austintown Community Church.

Larry is survived by his wife, the former Virginia Porter, whom he married March 4, 1950; three children, Linda (Russ) Pallotta Sr., Robbin (Michael) Durda Sr., and Larry (Connie) Ortz, all of Austintown; two sisters, Flora Malovich and Mable (Ted) Seferiadis, both of Youngstown; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Beside his parents, Larry was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Carrocce and Virginia Cafferty; and one brother, Richard Ortz.
