Charles Manherz Obituary
The Rev. Charles Edgar Manherz, 88, Sacramento, CA, died Friday, January 28, 1994, at the University of California-Davis Medical Center. His death was a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident on January 28 in Sacramento.
A graveside service was held on February 8 at Clovis Cemetery in Clovis, CA.
Charles Edgar Manherz was born April 2, 1905, at Waynesboro, PA. He held degrees from Lycoming College in Pennsylvania and American University in Washington, D.C. He received his theological degree from Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, NJ. He was an ordained minister of the California-Nevada Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served churches in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California, including serving as assistant pastor of the Salinas, CA United Methodist Church, where his son-in-law, the Rev. Don Wells, was pastor. He retired in 1970 and continued to live in Sacramento, making Faith United Methodist Church his charge conference.
He married Eva Klingman in 1989 in California. She is formerly of Aberdeen, SD.
Survivors include his wife of Sacramento; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Jeannine) Wells of Woodland, CA; one son, the Rev. Ed Manherz of Kansas City, Kan; one step daughter, Shirley Wolff of West Sacramento; one stepson, Ted Steiger of Alturas, CA; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
