Alturas, California-Eva Manherz, 87, of Alturas and formerly of Mound City, SD, died Friday, October 23, 1998 at her home.
Her funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. today in the Faith United Methodist Church in Sacramento, CA. The Rev. Donald Wells will officiate.
Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. in East Lawn South Gate Memorial Park in Sacramento. Nauman's Funeral Chapel in Sacramento is in charge of arrangements.
Eva Klingman was born October 13, 1911, to Jacob and Barbara (Quenzer) Klingman in Mound City, SD.
She married George Steiger on October 18, 1932, in Eureka. They farmed in the Glenham area for several years. They then moved to California, where she worked as a baker at a café for many years. He died in September 1978.
She married the Rev. Edgar Manherz in 1986. He died in February 1996.
Survivors include one son, Ted (June) Steiger of Alturas; three sisters, Christina Oberlander of McLaughlin, SD and Hulda Brosz and Carolyn Brockel, both of Aberdeen, SD; eight grandchildren; and 12 great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one daughter, five sisters and one brother.
Casketbearers will be her grandsons, Mike Wolff, Wayne Wolff, Jim Cottrell, Choya Steiger, Kevin Steiger and Tanen Steiger.
