Donald Tinkham, 80, of Maxwell, died Friday, March 28, at Story County Long Term Care Center in Nevada. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Maxwell Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ian McMullen officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center.
Don was born Nov. 9, 1922, in Galesburg, Ill., the son of Charles Russell and Fern (Lincoln) Tinkham. He married Winifred Gibbs March 3, 1942, in Biggsville, Ill. Don had farmed and also was a lumber salesman. When he retired, he helped at Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell. Don was a member of the Maxwell Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred of Maxwell; one son and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Carol Tinkham of Iowa Center and Connie Tinkham of Marion; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Charles Francis Tinkham.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society and to Maxwell Presbyterian Church.
