Mrs Kate Goss Hamby, 80, died Saturday, March 4 at 4 a.m. at her home on the west side of town. About 2 years ago she suffered a paralytic stroke and was unable to walk from that time.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church, of which she had been a member for nearly 40 years on Sunday, March 5 at 2 p.m. with Judge C E Snodgrass presiding.
Kate was an affectionate mother and a good neighbor, with a kind and lovable disposition.
She was married to Albert Newton Hamby in 1870, who died in 1894. 10 children were born to this union: Mrs Alice Andrews, Jacksonville, Fl; Mrs Florence Dayton, died 1907; Mrs Flora Rose, Crossville; W Andrew Hamby, San Francisco, Ca; Volner Hamby, died March 2, 1932; Mrs Myrtle England, Deland, Fl; Mrs Edna Hembree, Crossville; Vernon, died at age of 4 years; Vance, not been heard from since World War; and Virden Hamby, Crossville.
