YORK Thomas K. Bliss, 87, of Springettsbury Township, died Thursday, December 19, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Joyce S. (Kressler) Bliss. Thomas was born in Hanover, on January 13, 1926, a son of the late Oliver and Jennie (Kling) Bliss. Mr. Bliss retired as an inspector with Harley Davidson prior to working as a machinist. He was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hayshire United Church of Christ, Hawk Gunning Club, and Shiloh American Legion Post 799. Tom was life member of York Archers and he loved to fish and bowl. Thomas is survived by a son, Timothy C. Bliss and wife, Jo Marie of York; a daughter, Beverly J. Kelley of Dover; and five great-grandchildren, Andrea Battie, Kristine Taylor, Angela Kelley, Aaron Bennett, and Allen Kelley. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas R. Bliss, who was killed in action in Vietnam. A funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013, at Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with the Rev. Paul Guiliano officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
