Clarence L. Sonnhalter, 49, retire4d restaurant proprietor, died at his home, 9009 Empire Avenue N.E., yesterday after a long illness.

Mr. Sonnhalter, born in Bryan, O., operated the restaurant, established by his fathe4r at Euclid Avenue and E. 55th Street in 1904, with his brothers, Edward and Charles. The restaurant, a landmark in the neighborhood, has established restaurant commissaries at a number of Cleveland industrial plants.

His wife, Minnie M.; four daughters, Dorothy, Marion, Thelma and Rith, and his two brothers survive. After a short service at the residence, solemn requiem mass will be offered at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, St. Clair Avenue N.E. and E. 82d Street, at 10 a.m. Monday.
