Elsie B. Ard Cain, 92, Norwood Road, Somerset, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born June 27, 1910, in Bud, Ky., daughter of the late Charlie B. and Lou E. Tarter Ard. A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, she was a retired educator with the Pulaski County School System with 42 years of service. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Rheagenia (and J.W.) Hansford, Somerset; two grandchildren, Judy Kay (and Mike) New and C.V. (and Susan) Hansford, both of Somerset; six great-grandchildren, Sunda Hansford Carroll, Somerset, Christia New (and Grant) Burton, Wichita, Kan., Kristi Martin (and John) Riner, Savannah, Ga., and Beth New, John David Hansford and Kenneth New, all of Somerset; two great-great-grandchildren, Blake Carroll, Somerset, and Caitlin Nicole Burton, Wichita, Kan.; and a sister-in-law, Faye Cain Sears.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Vernon Cain, whom she married Feb. 21, 1931, in Richmond, Ky.; her parents; a brother, Otha Ard; and two sisters, Versa Garner and Zella Dick.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bros. C.E. Jacobs and Marty Shadoan officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
