"Baker Funeral is Held Today"
Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel E. Baker, 88, who died Saturday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. M. S. Jones, 2213 Marshall street, Colonial Heights [this was a neighborhood in Columbia SC], were to be conducted this afternoon from the Talbert Funeral home by the Rev. J. W. Neeley, assisted by the Rev. Paul E. Bolen and the Rev. F. T. Cox. Interment was to be in Willow Swamp Baptist churchyard at Norway [SC].
Mrs. Baker was the widow of the late J. H. Baker and moved here about 30 years ago from Orangeburg county [SC]. She was a member of the First Christian Science church of Columbia [SC].
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Rachel Elizabeth JONES, Columbia [SC]; Mrs. Margaret Jane PRINCE, Asheville, NC; Mrs. Nonie Elnora ROWELL, DeLand, FL; one son, R. L. BAKER, Norfolk, VA; one brother, R. A. YOUNG, Norway [SC], 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were: active, T. S. Sloan, W. L. Parker, George McCabe, Roland Jones, James Mitchell and C. A. Watson; honorary, Dr. M. W. Cheatham, J. M. McCabe, E. C. Goza, and G. W. Sloan.
