Son of Johann Conrad Bittenbender & Maria Unknown. Husband to Dorothea Steiner or Knoble. Father of 9.

Jacob served in the American Revolution as a Sergeant and an Ensign from Williams Township, Northampton Co., PA.

He owned considerable real estate in Durham (now Bethel Twp.) and Upper Saucon Twp., PA.

He was Justice of the Peace from 1800 to 1810 in Nescopeck Twp., PA.
