Originally buried in Bell Rock Cemetery, Malden, this was one of several graves north of Medford Street that were re-interred here in 1899.

Since he was originally buried in Bell Rock, he is listed on the Revolutionary War Memorial at the left of the main gate of that cemetery.

Revolutionary War Soldier - On the "Role of the Company of the Militea that went to Watertown By order of the Late Colo. Gardner upon the alarm on the 19 Day of April 1775 and from there to Resist the Ministeral troops under the Command of Capt. Benja. Blaney"; Private.

to the Memory of
Mr. Phinehas Sprague
who died Dec'r 29th AD 1805
In the 81st Year of his Age.

His alms, with liberal heart he gave,
Unto the sons of need;
His Memory will to ages live,
Though, he is gone indeed.
