Biography upon transfer 20 February 2021:
Twila passed away at home on September 15th at the age of 74. She was born in Colorado Springs, CO to Avis Marian and Virgil Wayne Munhollon. At the age of four she moved with her mother and sister Janice to San Francisco where she grew up and attended school.
At the age of 16, she married Jerry Bingham and had two children. At the age of 26 she was widowed and raised her two children alone until she met and married James Jose, her knight in shining armor. Together they raised Brenda and Brian and made a happy home and family in Concord.
When Brenda and Brian became involved with the Concord Blue Devils Drum Bugle Corps it became a family affair. Twila became a bus mom on the many summer tours and Jim drove a bus loaded with teens. This is what she loved to do. Being a mom to the many kids who were away from home and their families. She took care of them as her own. It seemed to be her calling.
She worked for 30 plus years at rehabilitation and residential homes for adolescent girls. The most recent one, Drake House in Pleasant Hill. She was a Team Leader who provided guidance and leadership to first-line staff. She was mom or grandma to many over the years and always spoke of her "girls" fondly even after retirement.
Twila is predeceased by her son Brian Bingham, and mother Avis Brown. She is survived by her husband James Jose, daughter Brenda Dugan (David), grandson Alex Dugan, granddaughter Siobhan Dugan Wheelan (Peter), sister Janice Ervin (George), brother David Munhollon (Sheryl), sisters-in-law Dorothy Quintel, Dolores McBride, Bonnie Bingham and Edna Conas, sisters in life Donna Price (Robert) and Emilia Mota. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
