AUGUSTA, Ga. - Henry C. 'Hank' Barton passed away November 27, 2005 at his residence. He was the son of Anne C. Barton of Augusta and the late R.O. Barton, Jr. and the grandson of Major General Raymond O. Barton and Clare Barton and J.C.H. and Florence Claussen. In addition to his mother, Hank is survived by his two children, Raymond and Kristen Barton of Augusta. Additional survivors include two brothers, Raymond O. 'Rocky' Barton and wife, Jane of Augusta, John C. Barton of North Augusta; a sister, Catherine B. 'Cathy' Clarke of Augusta; three nephews, T.J. Barton and wife, Christy of North Augusta, Ben Barton and Daniel Clarke, both of Augusta and one niece, Mattie Barton of Augusta. Hank also leaves behind his special friend, Melissa Warden. Hank was born and lived most of his life in Augusta. He was graduated from Augusta Preparatory School in 1970 and attended Tulane University and Augusta College. In 1973, he started working with his father at Claussen Concrete Company and was a vice president when that company was sold in 1988. In 1993, Hank and his brother, Rocky, established American Concrete Inc. where he served as the vice president for operations until his death. Hank was a devoted and loving father to his children, Raymond and Kristen and spent much of his time enjoying various activities with them. His time with them was always something he looked foward to and cherished. He was an avid fisherman and hunter as well as an accomplished SCUBA diver. He will be most fondly remembered as a great story-teller with a wonderful sense of humor. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 1134 Telfair Street. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Westover Memorial Park with the Reverend Robert Fain officiating. Family and friends may assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Honorary pallbearers will be the 'rodeo' gang: Scott Elliott, Bill Harris, Pace Pruitt, Drew Murphy, Robert Hagler, Roger Macuch, Larry Palmer, Jimmy Lester and Steve Rucker.
