James Williams was the eldest son of Christopher Williams and Rebecca Van Every (see Cowdrey Cemetery in Kendall Cty.)
He married Jane Ashwell (1824-1889) in London Township, Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada in Oct. 1845.
They moved with his parents and siblings in the mid to late 1840s to a Kendall County farm near Oswego, IL.
Their children were:
Melissa Ann Williams (1848-1919)(John C. Raleigh);
George Christopher Williams (1852-1937)(Jennie Spencer);
Alice Viola Williams (1853-1927)(William A. Smith and Israel L. Carter);
Julia Mary Williams (1856-1936)(unmarried)
and perhaps Alonzo I.
