SYKESVILLE, Md. -
James Ballard Browning, 72, of 5838 Oklahoma Road, Sykesville, Md., passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at Carroll County Hospital, Westminster, Md.
Born June 2, 1934, in Yeager, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ossie and Lottie (Grimmitt) Browning. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Freda (Wilt) Browning; and a son, Gary Browning.
Mr. Browning retired from the American Can Company, Baltimore, with 33 years of service, having been an inspector. He loved hunting and being outdoors in the country.
He loved his children very much, as he leaves behind two sons, Terry James Browning of Eldersburg, Md., and Tim Wayne Browning of Fillmore, Calif.; and a daughter, Kim Lucinda Benge of Fruitland, Md.
He is also survived by a brother, Jerry Browning of Florida; a sister, Shirley Waterson of Washington; two grandchildren, James Benge Jr., and Kena Humm; a stepgrandchild, Parrish Erricson; two great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Paul Phillips of Kitzmiller, Md., and Jack Barley of Baltimore.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Md., on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Tony Wilburn officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
