Graveside funeral services for Janice Nichols Lee, age 86 of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Columbia Hill Cemetery in Columbia under the direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home, with Bro. Bruce McGee officiating. Janice will be laid to rest with her late husband, Robert J. Lee and her daughter, Pamela Lee. There will be visitation just prior to the graveside service at the cemetery beginning at 1:30PM.

Janice Nichols Lee was born on February 7, 1936, at Columbia and passed from this life on April 8, 2022, at her residence following an extended illness. In addition to her husband and daughter, Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, John Victor Nichols and Lois Effie Fisher Nichols, and by her brother, Robert Nichols.

Janice worked as a Real Estate Agent and also as an Insurance Agent with Central American Life Insurance in Columbia for many years. She stood beside her husband, Robert J. Lee who served as President of Caldwell Bank and Trust Company. Whatever Janice took on, she was a hard worker. Janice loved anything to do with chickens. She loved collecting them, decorating with them, and talking to Omar about them. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery and through the years made some beautiful pieces. One of her favorite hobbies was working in her flower beds. She loved sister time with her sister, Faye, which usually involved shopping and antiquing as she loved antiques. She also loved to pamper herself by getting her nails done and she loved music. Eating Chinese food was one of her favorite treats. Without question one of the greatest loves in her life was her cat, Russ. She had a heart of Gold and was very loving but also very private. Janice was truly a lady and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her precious memory are her sister, Faye Sims, and her nephews: Todd, Toby, and Tim Long.

The Lee Family would like to add a special thanks to her caregiver the last number of years, Ana Talavera for all the love and care she provided.

Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Long, Toby Long, Tim Long and Omar Talavera. Scott Guin will serve as honorary pallbearer.
