He was a life-time resident of Thayer and Fillmore counties.
Fred was united in marriage to Minnie Schropfer, March 4, 1924. She preceded him in death November 19, 1970. To this union was born one daughter, Mareldine (Mrs. Ansel Mau).
On February 6, 1973, he was united in marriage to Mildred Sluka.
He was employed for 41 years by Fillmore county and the past several years by the City of Geneva.
Fred was known by everyone for his honesty, generosity and helpfulness to anyone in need. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred; daughter, Mareldine of Lincoln; step-son, Edward Sluka of Lincoln; one brother, Charles of Crete; sisters, Mrs. Effie Crawford of Hebron, Mrs. Lillie Elznic of Geneva, Mrs. Elsie Wagner of Crete; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the Farmer & Son funeral home, Geneva, at 2 p.m. Monday, January 10, 1977, with Rev. Jon Ruthven of Lincoln officiating.
Miss Susan Najmon sang “Amazing Grace” and “Old Rugged Cross” accompanied by Mrs. Norval Lomax.
Pallbearers were John Bixby, Glenn Roesler, David Clark, Dayle Turner, Danny Marson and Forrest White.
Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
