Minnie Rosalie "Rosie" Surritt

Minnie R. "Rosie" Surritt, 94, of Silver Lake, passed away April 10, 2013 at the Specialty Select Hospital in Topeka, KS.

She was born February 11, 1919 in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of Corwin Wallace and Goldie Grace Smith Pierson.

She grew up and was raised in Highland, KS and Iatan, MO areas.

Rosie married Jesse Frank Surritt on August 1, 1936 at Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2006.

Rosie worked at Seymour Foods and the Capper Publications for several years. She was also a licensed day care provider for many years. She resigned from Capper in 1960 to follow her husband's career in federal civil service. They retired in 1975 and returned to their home in Silver Lake to be close to their families.

She is survived by one brother; Richard Pierson of Missouri, two sisters; Norma Barker of Tooele Utah, Patricia Smith of Arkansas, two daughters-in-laws; Carol Surritt of Meriden, KS and Hermina Surritt of Daphne, AK, five grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren, and two on the way.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; Jesse Surritt, two sons; Jimmy E. Surritt, on Feb. 26, 2007, Richard Frank Surritt, on Nov. 19, 2011, Two brothers; Wallace Leonard Pierson and Jerry Pierson, and two great-grandsons; Dustin W. Surritt and Theodore "Teddy" McCollum.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at First Baptist Rock Church in Silver Lake, KS. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., on Saturday, prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Silver Lake Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Red Cross, Capital Area Chapter of Kansas, in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 602, Oskaloosa, KS 660066
