Marie was born in Adel on February 10, 1917, to John and Maude Sheaffer. After living and attending school in Adel, She married Gordon (Punch) Merical July 3, 1934, they would have been together 73 years had Punch lived. The two shared in the raising five children; Richard, Gordon and Charles of Adel, Jack of Denver CO, and William of Granite, OK. These five children gave Marie fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great- grandchildren.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her parents, John and Maude Sheaffer; two brothers, Keith and Bryon; three sisters, France, Bernice and Roberta; a son, Richard; two grandsons, Philip and Rockne. Marie is survived by four sons Gordon (Irene) of Adel Jack (Glenna) of Denver Co. Charles (Pat) of Adel and William (Dianna) of Granite OK; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
While passionate about the people who surrounded her Marie was involved in CWF , gardening, candy making, decorating cakes, collecting her many salt and pepper shakers, but most of all her enjoyment of reading her Bible.
