The son of John and Maude Sheaffer, he was born in Dallas County on June 8, 1914. He lived many years at Hampton, where he was the minister of the First Baptist Church, and moved to Florida in 1992. He was a member of the Daytona Beach Baptist Church at Daytona Beach, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Agnes; by a brother, Keith; and by two sisters, Frances and Berniece Merical.
Survivors include a son, John (Joe) Sheaffer of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two daughters, Marilyn Fahje of Victoria, Minn. and Esther Bridges of Port Orange, Fla.; two sisters, Marie Merical and Roberta McNair, both of Adel; seven grandchildren; and his friend and companion, Marie Gibson of Port Orange.
