Born in Fayette Co., AL 7 Dec 1929, he was a longtime employee of the Fayette Cotton Mill and a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church. He lived in Fayette County all of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Clanton Abernathy of Rt 1 Fayette, a son Dale Abernathy of Rt 1 Fayette, a daughter Mrs. Brenda Burkhalter of Rt 1 Fayette; a grandson and granddaughter, David and Tanya Burkhalter of Rt 1 Fayette; two brothers, Joe Neal Abernathy of Rt 5 Fayette and Leon Abernathy of Rt 5, Fayette; four sisters, Mrs Frances Harris, of Millport, Mrs. Jimmie Nell Harris of Rt 1 Fayette, Mrs. Arnell Houschof Winfield and Vonala Kizzire of Rt 1 Fayette; and several Nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Roger Rhodes, Fred Smith, Ronald Abernathy, Billy Beard, William Terry and Danny Brown.
