WILSON, DAVID MARTIN "GUMDROP GUS"

January 1, 1948 to December 20, 2011

Dave, dear Brother, Single Dad, Uncle and Friend, passed away with his family surrounding him after a valiant fight with a serious lung disease. This developed while serving his country in the Army from January 1968 until January 1970, which included a one year tour in Vietnam. Born in Los Angeles to Rollin and Norma Wilson, Dave spent his teen and adult life in San Diego County where he graduated from Helix High School in 1966.

In spite of two lung surgeries, Dave was a hard worker all his life in the printing & bindery business that brother Jack introduced him to. Dave enjoyed theme park trips with Shari and the kids when they were younger, playing basketball, watching pro football with son Brian and USC football with buddy Lou. Fight On! Dave also enjoyed long driving trips with Rollie and the kids and St. George trips with Shari and Keith.

Dave is survived by his son Brian Wilson of Spring Valley, brothers Jack Wilson (Nina) of Rancho Bernardo, Rollin Wilson Jr. (Betty) of New Orleans, sister Sharon Westman (Keith) of San Diego, several nephews and nieces, and dear friends Lou and Vickie Fencl of San Diego.

This sweet and selfless man, who never asked for anything, was always willing to help others. Dave will be missed terribly but he will remain in our hearts forever. Services will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Friday, January 27th at 10:30am, followed by private interment.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made in Dave's honor to the American Lung Association or the Veterans organization of your choice.

Happy Birthday Dave…We Love You!
