John was ordained at Garrison Fork Baptist Church part of Duck River Baptist Association on Nov 27 1824 Beech Grove, Coffee County, Tennessee, which was still Rutherford County as Coffee County had not been created yet. * Source Garrison Fork Baptist Church minutes. John and his parents Richard and Lydia Keele were members of this church as well as Nancy Green Keele, his wife. Many of Richard's children, grandchildren were members and their names are listed there as well as when they joined the church. Richard's brother, John and his son Richard John Keele and wife Eleanor "Milly" are listed. Richard's son William M Keele who was the minister, Many of John and Nancy's children and spouses are mentioned in the minutes, John Jr, Richmond, Richard, Philmore and wife Margaret m, Nancy and Thomas Keele as well as John Keele Jr, and others. The Jacobs, Crosslin, Bean, most every person who ever lived in Coffee, Rutherford, Bedford, Warren, and Franklin Counties during this time frame.
