Mrs. Jane D. Groves Dead.
Mrs. Jane D. Groves died Wednesday morning at eleven o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. K. H. Plate at San Jose, California. Mrs. Groves was in her eightieth year and her death was due to old age.
Mrs. Groves, whose maiden name was Jane Docia Garner was a native of Virginia. In 1864 she was married to David Groves, Sr., then a well-known farmer of Lafayette County. To this union four children were born, three of which survive and are as follows: John G., of Kansas City; Jesse L., of Dover; and Mrs. K. H. Plate, of San Jose, California. Mrs. Groves resided in Lexington until a few years ago, when she went to live with her daughter in California. She was a life long member of the Methodist Episcopal church and was always active in church work.
The funeral will be held in Lexington Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church.
