Meredith "Crawford" McAlister, known as CRAWFORD.
Son of William Crawford McAlister and Mary "Polly" Webb
Married Eliza Fairis/Fairris? December 19 1833.
She died 1871 in Arkansas, place of burial unknown
They had nine children.

Crawford then married Lewvina Churchill Garner in 1873, a widow. She died 1920. With his second wife, Crawford had two children, Eliphas Allison McAlister (B 1874) and George Walker McAlister (Sr.) (B October 2 1876)

Family lore has it that Crawford, in his 80's walked to the edge of the woods and marked three trees. He advised he wished to be buried there, between them. (What was then the edge of the woods/field is now grown up, all woods)

He is thus buried in the woods in the so called McAlister Cemetery near "Welcome Home" Arkansas which is near Hector and Appleton. There is one other grave there of a small baby/child marked with a small stone and no writing.
