ANNE DOBIAS GORTHY

The summer breezes were softly blowing on July 5, 1995, when Anne's gentle spirit was transported to Heaven and to her late husband, Julian The Lord whispered the words concerning her life and devotion to following Him, "Well done thy good and faithful servant."

Anne Dobias Gorthy was born in Chicago, Ill.. on March 26, 1914, to Michael and Anna Dobias. She married Julian Gorthy in 1936. He preceded her in death in 1976.

She attended Hurley Hospital School of Nursing and worked in a doctor's office for several years. She moved to Mt Pleasant in 1943. She received her certificate in real estate through the University of Michigan. She was Realtor Associate of Stinson Realty and Mt. Pleasant Realty. She was owner of Anne Gorthy Realty for several years. She was a member of Gratiot-Isabella Board of Realtors, R.A.M., and Central Home Builder's Association. She was also a member of the first United Methodist Church and the United Scleroderma Foundation.

She is survived by a daughter, Julie Ann (Ronald) Elson of Merrill; a son, Michael (Judy) Gorthy of Freeland; five granddaughters, Jill, Jackie, Connie, Gayle, and Holly; a grandson, Brian; a step-grandson, Kyle, greatgrandchildren Randi, Joshua, Anna and Andrew; a nephew. Frank (Deloris) Dobias of Livonia; grandnephews George, John and David Dobias; and grandnieces, Dawn and Debbie; two sisters-in-law, Alice Dobias and Ernestine Branning.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Frank, John and George Dobias; and a nephew, George Dobias.

Memorials are suggested to the Scleroderma Foundation, the First United Methodist Church, or Hospice of Central Michigan.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with the Revs. Ronald J. Thompson and Wade S. Panse officiating.

The last two years Anne has resided with her daughter, Julie. Along with Anne's son Michael and wife Judy, Julie's husband Ron, God appointed special family members to help with her care; granddaughters Jackie, Jill and Gayle. Also, tender care was given by hospice workers Shirley and Virginia.

We knew the end was near, it was her desire all was serene and peaceful, as nothing was left unsaid or undone. The last words Anne heard were "I love you mama." We can't convey how much she will be missed. We are looking forward to having a wonderful reunion with her again.

Anne's mortal remains will rest beside her beloved husband, Julian, in Memorial Gardens.
