PEORIA -- Dr. Clinton S.M. Koerner, 89, of 4615 N. Clarewood died at 6:14 a.m. Monday, July 1, 1996, at his home.

Born Sept. 26, 1906, in Peoria to George and Rose Ringel Koerner, he married Rosella F. Frederick on Aug. 31, 1935, in Chicago. She died Oct. 12, 1993, in Peoria. Three sisters and one brother also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary A. Koerner of Springfield and Martha E. Koerner of Santa Clara, Calif.; and six nieces.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the medical corps as a battalion surgeon. He served during the invasion of France and achieved the rank of major.

He received his bachelor's degree from Bradley University in 1928 and his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1933. He became assistant to an industrial surgeon in Chicago. In 1936, he returned to Peoria to open a general practice. He was active on Proctor Hospital's medical staff. He retired in 1986. He was a member of Chicago Medical Society, Peoria Medical Society, Illinois State Medical Society and the American Medical Society. He was a member of the American and Illinois academies of family physicians.

He was a member of Illinois State Medical Society 50-Year Club. In 1972, he was made a charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice in New York City.

He was former president of Peoria Medical Society and the Peoria Chapter of the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians.

He was a member of Parkview United Church of Christ.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. The Rev. Ron Garner will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
