William Alley, a Civil war veteran, who resides near the Cambria street bridge, is nursing a very sore hand. It was scratched by a chicken. The accident is doubly unfortunate for Mr. Alley has only one hand.

BELLWOOD.
Comrade William Alley of First street, South side, is very ill at his home. He was visited on Sunday by Corporal Perry Cupp of Warriors Mark. The men had not seen each other for over forty years. Mr. Alley was a member of company E, Forty-fifth regiment of Pennsylvania volunteers for over four years during the Civil war.

WILLIAM ALLEY - A highly esteemed resident of Bellwood passed away on Saturday afternoon at 3.30 o'clock after an illness of two weeks, aged 71. The deceased was born at Williamsburg, July 9, 1844. He was a veteran of the Civil war, having enlisted as a private in Company E, Forty-fifth regiment of the Pennsylvania infantry, in '61 where he served until 1864. He reenlisted and was a staunch soldier to the end of the war. Mr. Alley is survived by his wife, who was Miss Emily Edminston, to whom he was married in Hensheytown, Jan. 23, 1866, also one daughter, Miss Rosa E. Stiver of Bellwood, three sons, Henry and Samuel of Spruce Creek, and Thomas of Bellwood. The funeral occurred this afternoon from his late home and was in charge of Rev. H.A. McKelvey.
